BCB president names Jamie Siddons Bangladesh's new batting coach

BCB president Nazmul Hassan has said that Jamie Siddons is Bangladesh's next batting mentor. This comes a day after Ashwell Prince offered his renunciation from the gig, refering to "family reasons".

Siddons had shown up in Dhaka last week, without a job determined by the BCB - Hassan had said in December that it was "not yet concluded in which region he will work in, regardless of whether it is the High Performance, Under-19s or the senior group". The 57-year-old Australian has invested the vast majority of his energy since watching BPL matches.

"Jamie Siddons will be the public group's batting mentor. We have heard from senior cricketers and board chiefs that he is a decent mentor, which is the reason we brought him here," Hassan told Prothom Alo.

Siddons, who filled in as Bangladesh's lead trainer from 2007 to 2011 conveying a few leap forwards, was first reached in May last year when Bangladesh were attempting to supplant Neil McKenzie with a long-lasting batting mentor. The BCB shortlisted Prince and Siddons, with the previous being delegated in July in front of the Zimbabwe series.

Hassan trusts that Prince's choice to exit was incited by the recruiting of Siddons. "Perhaps after Siddons' appearance, Prince thought we were thinking in an unexpected way," he said. "However, he might have remained so we could get him to work in an alternate limit."

The board is hoping to recruit expert quick bowling and handling mentors, however all things considered, they will not having anybody from abroad set up in front of the Afghanistan series that starts on February 23. Champaka Ramanayake, BCB's quick bowling expert for elite execution unit, is probably going to work with the senior side in a break job.

"We are searching for a speed bowling trainer who has experience working with global groups. Till then, at that point, Champaka (Ramanayake) can work with them," Hassan said.

He said that Ottis Gibson's exit as Bangladesh's quick bowling trainer has set them back. "More than Prince, the greater misfortune is Gibson's flight. Every one of the quick bowlers said that they were gaining tons of useful knowledge from him."
