Megan Schutt laughs off England's 'ironic' pressure comments

Australia pace bowler Megan Schutt terminated back at her Ashes rivals after the hosts fixed triumph in the multi-design series, saying "assuming there's anybody we can place tension on it's England".

Schutt disagreed with England skipper Heather Knight's idea the Australians can break under tension before the principal ODI in Canberra on Thursday night, marking the remarks "amusing".

Talking after Australia's bowlers effectively protected a worse than average 205 for 9 by moving the guests for 178, Schutt said her side had ascended to the Ashes event against a group they realized they could get at.

"They turned out in the media and they offered something about us folding under pressure, which we believed was a piece unexpected after they lost 6 for 27 in a Test," she said. "It's simply the Ashes...every game comes to the wire. To come out and safeguard that all out was really great from us.

"Assuming there's anybody that we can place tension on, it's England and this evening was one of those objectives that would have been difficult for them to pursue assuming we bowled well, and I figure we did that."

Following the loss on Thursday, Knight demanded England had the option to match Australia yet lamented an absence of "indomitable attitude" at vital minutes.

Schutt got back to Australia's XI, in the wake of being excluded from the Test side to offer her a more extended reprieve between matches having as of late had Covid-19, and said she was shaking she was that eager to be back on the field.

She got her 100th ODI wicket to turn into the second-quickest lady to arrive at that achievement behind Australia legend and previous colleague Cathryn Fitzpatrick.
